Lions News · Lions Win National Tournament Opener 71-58


The Boys’ National Team won its opening game in Myrtle Beach against Word of God, 71-58. The Holy Rams jumped out to an early lead, but the Lions battled back for a 7 point half time lead. After losing a portion of the lead at the beginning of the 2nd half, the Lions went on a huge run to extend the lead to double digits. The Lions were led in scoring by senior star Jayln McCreary, who poured in 27 points. Senior center and Ole Miss commit Rodney Howard dominated the paint with 14 points and several rebounds.  Guards CJ Jamison and Kaleb Mack showed great poise handling the ball, while Chase Claxton  converted a 4-point play to put the game out of reach.

The Lions have earned a birth in the semi-finals. They will play the winner of Moravian Prep vs. Hillcrest tomorrow night at 7:20 PM.
